Wild Streets is a side-scrolling arcade game, in which you fight enemies using punches, kicks, your gun and ...a panther called Black Virgin!
 
Review
Wild StreetsBig street gangs of NY needed to regain their control over the city and above all, secure their territories, by kidnapping the header of the CIA (called the "Boss"). Your mission is to liberate "The Boss" and to bring him back safely. Use your Magnum and your street fighting skills to kill the gang members, but you also have a companion in the form of a panther called Black Virgin - although as you'll find out, he (she?) is of almost no use! There are five levels, each one filled with gang members to beat up, but you can simply jump over them to the next screen without having to fight them (oh yes that's easy). Gameplay is inconsistent though. It is very easy for the first two sections then suddenly gets tougher. The use of flick-screen rather than scrolling action, means that it's easy for the main character to get caught between screens. You can easily get through the levels by either shooting everyone (as long as you have bullets, they are limited!) or just running (and jumping) past them! The game was also available for Commodore, CPC, CPC+, Spectrum ZX 128k, Amiga and Atari ST.

The C64 version has colorful graphics with detailed enough backdrops but sprite animation suffers, as in the CPC and ZX versions. The action is faster compared to the CPC, but overall graphics are somewhat primitive here and I would expect better result on this version.
The sound offers a nice introductory music and a fine music during gameplay (although repetitive), but no SFX.
