The fun part of this game is customizing your car to match the track conditions. Cars are rated in maximum speed, acceleration, handling, and grip, with adjustable slider controls for steering, transmission, brakes, and suspension. Selectable tires for racing on tarmac, gravel, mud, and snow help conquer varying weather and track conditions, along with an option for manual or automatic shifting. Appropriate backgrounds and track textures differentiate between countries. There are four gameplay options here: choosing the World Rally option, unlocks cars and upgrades for use in single-race and practice modes in 14 different countries with 3 legs each. The other mode is the Co-driver that puts you in the passenger seat, calling out commands to the driver. Time trials mode let you set personal bests. The last mode is the License mode with specific challenges unlocks a bonus car. Additional features include a gauge for tracking progress on each track, automatic replay of each leg from various camera angles, an RPM gauge, audible navigator commands in real-time, and a recap chart showing position and times when finishing a race.
The graphics are pretty cool here. All tracks are in a mixed 2D and 3D environment. Backdrops are in 2D featuring scenes of the country that the race is taking place, whilst the rest are in full 3D running fast and quite smooth. Details are using plenty of colors and the car models are nicely drawn. They even included some weather effects like rain and snow!
Sound is great offering several sampled SFX (from the engine noises to the tire squeals etc) that sound quite good. Of course there are a few catchy tunes during racing too.
