|The story of medieval dragonslayer Sir Bowen, in his attempt to rid the world of a particularly evil king along with seven evil dragons that have ruled the world! Released on Saturn, PC and PSX.|
The game is based on the 1996 movie of the same name and generally follows the plot of the movie. Dragons once filled the skies and would attack humans on a regular basis. Fearing the dragons, the humans hunted them down and killed them, and now only one survives. Take control of Bowen a retired knight and former dragon slayer and his dragon friend as they try to free the country from a tyrannical prince. Run, jump, punch, kick, and hack through 18 levels of action. However, if Bowen exerts himself too much, his cardiovascular gauge will deplete and he will have to take a rest! Oh you get easily tired using your huge sword mate! The game features nine levels of Hack'n'slash everything on your way to victory! Oh hey, do not forget your precious friend Draco who will toast everything in the way with his flame breath!
I liked the graphics a lot. The backgrounds and characters are well designed and looked digitized! Well the animation though is having a few problems as only few frames are being used so the character animations looks (and feels) a bit bulky at times. The whole atmosphere though is magnificent! I like this kind of epic arcade action 2D games (reminded me classic coin-op games like Golden Axe) with details and colors of the dark ages!
The sound is also good, featuring medieval-style music scores and several digitized sound FX. Technically a good game although it should have been of better sprite animation which would add to its playability.
