STORY / GAMEPLAY
Jungle Warrior is a relatively unknown game that offers great fun and action! You are an explorer lost in a jungle and your mission is to rescue your girlfriend that's tied to a tree by the natives, on the opposite side of the land! Starting off from your camp there are many locations to walk through and numerous native warriors and animals to fight. You must also beware of any land traps, like broken bridges, rivers, and more. The visuals look good though the game is in flip-screen. Open doors (passages actually) can be used to further explore the levels and find the objects you need to save your love interest. Of note is the fact that, unlike other games, when you fall into the water you don't drown. Instead you sink under the water's surface and the game turns into a scuba dive variant! Overall, the game is quite tough since each screen is swarmed by flying or ground animals like scorpions, snakes, birds plus the natives that can shoot arrows. Upon mastering its controls, Jungle Warrior is very fun to play!
GRAPHICS / SOUND
The game plays on flip-screen and the ZX version has nice graphics and well animated sprites. But the screen scrolling is quite slow (as on the CPC). On the 128K ZX, there is a good intro theme and a few sound effects during gameplay.
On our video below you may watch the ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC versions of the game.
