Resident Evil is the 2nd game of the Resident Evil survival horror series developed and published by Capcom for the PSOne in 1998. A Dual Shock version followed, giving you a machine gun with infinite ammunition and various remakes were made later for several gaming consoles (N64, Saturn, Dreamcast).
Resident Evil 2 After beating Umbrella Corp on the 1st Resident Evil, Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine believed that the main threat was over. But the T-Virus was still alive, spreading once more its disease and making dead people walk the Earth for a second time. Raccoon City is now infested with hundreds of undead creatures looking for blood. In RE2, you control Claire Redfield (Chris' sister) and a rookie cop called Leon Kennedy. Leon is a new-comer in Raccoon City's Police Dept and seems "doomed" having to cope with zombies at his first ever assignment. The city is burning and the undead are crawling everywhere. After the game intro, showing a car accident, Claire and Leon are separated and you control one person at a time, depending on the mission. They both must survive and find out how to destroy the virus and, of course, vanish the undead once and for all. But this time the undead are not their only enemies since real creatures from Hell are hiding in many places and waiting to brutally kill whoever faces them. You'll need some strategy here, while the enemies are killed in different ways. On the way, Claire and Leon will team up with two more survivors who'll become a great help. RE2 uses the same formula of RE1 as you will once more try to solve various puzzles in order to proceed and collect various objects, combine herbs, fix weapons, carry more gear, ammo and healthpacks. But all these must be used wisely. Save game feature is the same. You can save your progress each time a typewriter is available and provided that you already have an ink ribbon in your inventory.

Graphically the game looks great. The backgrounds used are prerendered, with nice colors and the characters use a large number of polygons. Gore, blood, explosions, shooting and other goodies are very well placed in this game. Sonically, the game will freak you out, due to the scary music scores and the creepy sound FX used. If you try this game connecting your Playstation to a Hi-Fi and turning the lights off, you'll feel as if you're playing a living part in a horror movie. Surely, Resident Evil 2 is one of the best survival horrors the genre ever shown.
