STORY / GAMEPLAY Alone In The Dark 4 is a survival horror game that takes the old Alone in The Dark series to a new dimension, sharing elements from the fantastic Resident Evil series. The fearless inspector of paranormal activities Edward Canby is back in action. This time, his best friend Charles Friske dies under mysterious circumstances in Shadow Island, a very dark and scary place located somewhere in Maine. Carnby sets off to investigate the causes of his friend's death and finally explore the mystery hidden behind that island. Along the way Carnby will have the aid from an inexperienced girl called Aline who knows how to read and understand ancient Abkhani writings. The journey will be challenging since danger lurks in every corner and Carnby will have to fight against fearsome enemies (from ghosts and zombies to crocodiles and monsters) and solve numerous puzzles to proceed. This is a really great game and an alternative solution for every classic Resident Evil fan.
GRAPHICS / SOUND Alone In The Dark series enjoyed a great improvement with this installment, since the style of this game reminds us of the Resident Evil series with pre-rendered backgrounds, dark colors, spooky atmosphere, great characters and monsters plus scary sound effects and music. The Dreamcast version is surely better and more polished to the PS1, due to its superior graphics hardware. For the lucky owners of a Sega Dreamcast and the fans of the old-school Resident Evil series, this game is a great experience and a 'must have' title!
