Review
The Viking ChildSTORY / GAMEPLAY
Enter the Halls of Valhalla and battle your way against the evil god Loki and his minions. The game is similar to Super Wonder Boy (aka Wonder Boy in Monster Land) since you collect hidden gold, upgrade your character's weapons and pay visits to shops (to spend the coins collected). You control Brian, a child born a Viking and defend yourself through 16 levels of Odin's world that's divided into diverse scenarios including medieval castles, mountains and thick forests! Though its similarities with Super Wonder Boy, Viking Child has better graphics and brilliant sound! It is a great and fun to play action platform with lots of nice details. The Viking Child is a must-have game for any platform fan although it's not a masterpiece!

GRAPHICS / SOUND
The Atari Lynx version has great visuals, close to the original ST version, with colorful backgrounds and smooth scrolling. The sprites' animation features cartoon-ish style reactions that look so fun for a game like this. Each stage is unique and the game includes medieval castles, mountains, thick forests and more.
The sound on the Lynx is also good, with a nice intro tune and several sound effects during gameplay (but unfortunately no in-game music).
