STORY / GAMEPLAY Aya Brea (member of MIST Agency), after surviving in the first Parasite Eve is now back to solve a new mystery and destroy a different breed of monsters (called the Neo Mitochondrion). Her quest begins after she is called to enter a building (the Acropolis Tower), where she finds a total disaster. Everyone is dead and the whole city is in chaos. The environment is totally destroyed and small deadly creatures start to appear around, waiting to attack their next victim. Aya must search, solve puzzles, gather weapons and use them against numerous enemies of various sizes and powers. Will she manage to survive once more? Parasite Eve II plays like Parasite Eve and the Resident Evil 1, 2 & Nemesis games, so it will be easy to get used to its controls and style for all those who liked and played these games. GRAPHICS / SOUND Technically, this game looks pretty much like the Resident Evil series, featuring pre-rendered, polished backgrounds and 3D polygon characters. The atmosphere is really creepy and the sound plays its own unique part to it. There are fantastic music scores and sound effects surrounding Aya on her quest, making the player jump off his couch many times (Resident Evil anyone?). Though it does not have the "virtues" of a Resident Evil game (zombies, for example), this game is surely great to play. For me, it's a great thing to see a development team mostly specialized in RPG games to succeed in the survival horror genre. | |
