STORY / GAMEPLAY Solid Snake, a redneck commando, is recruited by the US Government to retaliate and confront a special forces team called Foxhound. The Team Leader is a madman and very trained person called, Liquid Snake. Foxhound threats to use a unique nuclear weapon aiming to destroy the world, so Snake must infiltrate their facilities, kill their men and destroy the mighty weapon once and for all. Apart from the main cause, Snake needs to also discover his identity since the resemblance to Liquid Snake is, at least, scary! The gameplay is, in one word, fantastic! In MGS, you can infiltrate, fight with bare hands, shoot, explode and use many anorthodox ways and strategies like a real life commando. Your inventory is consists of different weapons and necessary items to use, such as your faithful Socom pistol, rocket launcher, C4, grenades, energy / food rations and more. The difficulty level increases gradually so the game gives you the opportunity to learn how to cope with its mechanics. And believe me, there's a lot to do! When a task is completed, Solid must fight a big boss (some highly trained members of Foxhound), each one with his own abilities, powers and weaknesses. The camera perspective alters with many zoom-ins and zoom-outs, plus a first person perspective, depending on what is needed at a particular time. Metal Gear Solid comes in 2 CDs, a fact that promises to keep you entertained for many hours. It is indeed one of the best games for this console and one of the best games ever created in history.
GRAPHICS / SOUND The game's 3D graphics are colorful (though mostly dark) and look absolutely stunning. The environments vary from underwater facilities to high, snowy mountains. The game's sound is equally epic, from the intro song to the in-game music scores and the sound effects. Technically, MGS brings the Playstation to its limits, giving us a superb game to play, watch and -mostly- feel! MGS is a perfect 10! | |
